Diagnosis and Follow-Up
The diagnosis is first established with physical examination. Special X-rays, MRI and other tests may be necessary. The results of these investigations provide information about associated problems and may guide how the deformity will behave in the future. Typically after this initial stage, a subsequent phase named “controlled observation” begins, and behavior of the deformity is observed. This is done with repeated physical examinations and X-rays performed at regular intervals. If curve progresses regularly and other functional problems occur, appropriate intervention should be performed.
